Hauntingly fun

This was one of the best ghost tours I’ve been on. I got chills multiple times! Hearing about Prague ghosts while walking the dark, empty streets felt spooky but fun at the same time. The guided tour took us to unique spots like the Old Jewish Cemetery that I wouldn’t have visited on my own. Our guide, Lara, was fantastic. She was super into her role and knew so many details.

Interesting dark history

I had no idea how many historic sites in Prague had ghost stories related to them. The guide took us through Old Town Square and pointed out places I had walked past but never noticed before. The best part for me was hearing the story of the restless spirit near Týn Church. If you’re looking for tours of Prague with a darker twist, don’t miss this.

DESCRIPTION

Ghost Tour Prague

DISCOVER PRAGUE’S HAUNTED HISTORY

Walk through Prague’s Old Town and discover the city’s most thrilling legends on this Ghost Tour Prague. The tour will begin close to the Czech Tourism office in the Old Town Square. There, you’ll meet your costumed storyteller guide, who will be carrying a lantern. From there, you’ll set off to walk through the spooky streets of Old Town Square. It is home to the famous Astronomical Clock, where locals used to believe that time itself held supernatural powers. Your guide will talk about the mysterious executioner’s house and the restless spirits said to haunt the area.

HISTORIC SITES WITH GHOSTLY TALES

Next, you’ll move on to the Church of Our Lady before Týn, a 14th-century Gothic masterpiece. While you’re there, the guide will share the legend of the thief whose severed hand still hangs inside. It is a grim warning to anyone who might dare to steal from the church. Optionally, you can visit the Týn Yard (Ungelt). It is a medieval marketplace, where you’ll learn of a merchant with a tragic end whose ghost is still seeking revenge. Along the way, you’ll also visit two secret stops, each with its own haunting tale.

VISIT THE HAUNTED JOSEFOV

The tour will continue into Josefov, the Jewish Quarter, which is full of centuries-old legends and ghost stories. You’ll stand outside the Old-New Synagogue. Your guide will tell the story of the Golem of Prague, a mystical creature that was created to protect the Jewish people. After that, you’ll reach your final stop at the Old Jewish Cemetery, one of Europe’s oldest burial sites. There, you’ll see thousands of layered tombstones and hear the story of how spirits still wander among the graves. As the tour ends, you’ll leave with an understanding of Prague’s dark past and maybe even a lingering feeling that you weren’t alone.

The Devil’s deal at Charles Bridge

A legend says that long ago, a master builder had a hard time keeping the Charles Bridge tower from leaning. Nothing he tried worked so in desperation, he made a deal with the Devil. The deal was for the Devil to fix the bridge, and in return, the first soul to cross the bridge would be his. The builder agreed to this with a trick in mind. He planned to send a chicken to cross the bridge first.

However, you can’t easily trick the Devil. The Devil found out about the builder’s plan and came up with his own. He sent out a mysterious messenger to tell the builder’s wife her husband was injured across the bridge. In a panic, she ran to him across the bridge, becoming the first soul to cross. The Devil had won, claimed her soul, and the tower was left standing firm for centuries.
