Great way to get to know the city

I really felt like we basically saw the entire city with the walking tour. You do a lot of walking, but you see everything. I loved the Charles Bridge and the Jewish Quarter, but my fav was the Prague Castle, especially because of the views. It’s on a hill, so you see the entire city below you. Meesha was also nice enough to get a photo of me!

The amazing guide alone is worth it

Michaela was a delight to listen to. You can really tell she knows her stuff. She didn’t just recite the attractions’ history. She incorporated them in stories about the Czechoslovakia split, and so on. Plus, she answered every question we asked. I’d go again if you’d guarantee it’d be Michaela again!

DESCRIPTION

Prague Walking Tour

Start out with sightseeing in Prague’s historic city center

The first stop of the Prague Walking Tour is the Old Town Square — the city’s traditional center. Here, your tour guide will point out the still-working Astronomical Clock, hung up on the Old Town Hall. This is a beautiful, multi-color clock that still functions. In fact, it’s the oldest astronomical clock still in operation! You’ll also view the Church of St. Nicholas, a stunning Late-Gothic and Baroque building. Your guide will also recount the church’s history as you explore. For example, did you know that Czech partisans used the church as a secret headquarters? They needed it for Radio Prague.

Make your way over to the Vltava

Your next stop is the Vltava River, which is maybe the most famous river in the Czech Republic. Cross over the Charles Bridge — originally the only way to cross the river. While walking over this symbol of Prague, your guide will point out its famous statues. There are over 30 of them, all sculpted in intricate detail and mounted on the railing.

Among the most famous works is the statue of Saints Vincent and Procopius. They're standing next to a column showing Bruncvík helping a lion fight a seven-headed dragon. Another highlight is The Crucifix and Calvary. There, you'll see the crucifixion of Christ.

Since this walking tour takes you along the Vltava, it’s a great idea to keep the river in mind for later in the day — a Prague dinner cruise is one of the most enjoyable ways to relax and see the city from a different angle after exploring it on foot.

Ascend to Prague Castle

To end the tour, your guide will give you tram tickets for the Hradčany district and the Prague castle complex. Prague Castle is the world's largest ancient castle, boasting 70,000 square meters. First, you'll see the St. Vitus Cathedral, which is the country's largest church. It's also the most important, as the burial place of Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors. Afterwards, you’ll be taken to a great viewpoint for panoramic views over the entire city of Prague. The castle is on a hilltop, so it’s the perfect spot to take a photo!

Continue your visit to Prague to make even more memories

Although you’ve already seen amazing sights, why not continue sightseeing? After all, Prague Castle is near some great spots. For example, the relaxing Deer Moat park and the picturesque Golden Lane.

Prague Walking Tour

Did you know that Prague overthrew the ruling communist party with student protests?

In 1989, from November 17th to November 28th, the Velvet Revolution took place in Prague. The movement was a series of student-led protests organized with one aim in mind. That was to free Prague and the Czech Republic from the Communist regime. In only two days, the number of protestors grew from 200,000 to 500,000. Then, after only 11 days of demonstrations, the one-party state was dissolved. The revolution was a huge success. In June 1990, the Czech Republic had its first democratic elections since 1948.
